Trees and Talent (&Sales)

Trees and Talent (& Sales)!
What do trees and talent have in common? Everything! Trees need water and air to grow but give us what we need to breathe, offer shelter and beauty. Your talent needs compensation, goals and purpose to grow but provide the work to run your business.
National Arbor Day might be the perfect time to celebrate trees and engage your talent. In the Forbes article The Future of Work: Corporate Responsibility Attracts Top Talent, discusses the importance of purpose in attracting and maintaining talent. "When my company gives me the opportunity to volunteer as part of my work, I feel inspired," said one worker of a small company. In fact, research shows that pay (after a certain level) is less important than engaging and meaningful work.
If your company is on a budget but you want to recognize your team, why not create an event that is free - or costs much less than salary increases - to recognize Arbor Day. Visit the Arbor Day Foundation website for corporate partnership and involvement ideas such as tree planting events.
P.S. There is an added benefit of social involvement. Sales!
In a recent Cone Communications survey, 87% of Americans will purchase a product because a company advocated for an issue they cared about, and millennials are much more likely than other generations to research the issues a company supports and the extent to which the company contributes.
